Artist Statement My art, especially my paintings, are a tool for recording my life. I capture moments, emotions, landscapes, people, places, events and moods of everyday routines that are meaningful to me and my family. Neighborhoods are common subjects for my work. In my daily life I am continually thinking about what I see and it's composition on canvas. How does light reflect off it, hide it, expose it's secrets? I don't over paint, leaving room for the observer's eye to interpret. I'm excited about color and the variety of colors within a color. There is nothing that I encounter that couldn't turn into a piece of art. I am a "show don't tell" artist: I paint because I need to; my work describes my life and, perhaps, the lives of those who share common experiences with me. |
